Empat pejabat Pemerintah Provinsi Sulawesi Utara (Sulut) telah ditahan dalam kasus dugaan korupsi dana hibah senilai Rp8,9 miliar yang dialokasikan untuk Sinode GMIM periode 2020–2023. Penyidik Subdit Tindak Pidana Korupsi (Tipidkor) Ditreskrimsus Polda Sulut menetapkan lima tersangka, dengan empat di antaranya kini berada dalam tahanan.
Pada Senin (14/4/2025) malam, Sekretaris Provinsi (Sekprov) Sulut Steve Kepel dan mantan Asisten III Pemprov Sulut Asiano Gemmy Kawatu (AGK) dibawa ke ruang tahanan Mapolda Sulut usai menjalani pemeriksaan selama 13 jam. Keduanya mengenakan rompi tahanan oranye setelah melalui pemeriksaan kesehatan sekitar pukul 10.35 WITA. Sebelumnya, pada Kamis (10/4/2025), dua pejabat lain, Jeffry Korengkeng dan Freddy Kaligis, juga ditahan usai diperiksa.
Hingga kini, total empat dari lima tersangka telah ditahan. Proses hukum terus bergulir untuk mengungkap aliran dana hibah yang diduga disalurkan melalui prosedur tidak sah selama empat tahun terakhir.
Penyidik menduga dana hibah untuk program keagamaan dan kesejahteraan Sinode GMIM dialihkan secara ilegal. Dugaan penyalahgunaan ini menyebabkan kerugian negara mencapai Rp8,9 miliar. Badan Pekerja Majelis Sinode GMIM disebut sebagai penerima hibah, namun alur penyaluran diduga melibatkan pelanggaran prosedur oleh oknum pejabat.

Usai penahanan, Asiano Gemmy Kawatu sempat memberikan pernyataan kepada wartawan. “Sebagai manusia, saya syok dan kaget, mungkin juga merasa terhina. Namun, saya akan ikuti proses hukum dengan keyakinan. Saya yakin tidak termasuk kategori koruptor,” ujarnya. AGK juga menyebut dukungan keluarga sebagai penguat dalam menjalani proses hukum.
Kasus ini menjadi perhatian publik mengingat besaran kerugian negara dan status para tersangka yang menjabat sebagai petahana dan mantan pejabat kunci di Sulut. Masyarakat mendesak proses hukum yang transparan untuk memulihkan kepercayaan terhadap tata kelola anggaran daerah.
Polda Sulut belum memberikan pernyataan resmi terkait perkembangan penyidikan maupun identitas tersangka kelima. Proses hukum terhadap para pejabat ini diharapkan menjadi momentum penegakan hukum tanpa tebang pilih di Sulut. (JS).
